![]() Kosovo-Premier Ramush Haradinaj hat sich am Mittwoch dem Haager Tribunal gestellt. Prime Minister Mr.Ramush Haradinaj’s declarations - 08-03-2005 The last war in Kosovo left at least 12 000 killed persons and thousands insulted and violated. More than 120 000 burned houses and properties and more than 1 million citizens forced to leave their houses in one of the most brutal campaign of ethnic cleansing. Our war for freedom asked for so much sacrifice. Even today thousands of families with a sorrow and night mares are waiting for their beloved members, whom faith is still unknown. We still haven’t finished our job. In the other hand we have gone through a very long way since 1999 and now we are so close to achieve our independency. This will be the biggest achievement of Kosovo and in the same time the begging of our journey towards European Union and NATO. In these three months since the Government which I led, gave its promise, we have done so much progress which many didn’t expect, especially in the way of implementing the standards which are designed by the international community in the way to move forward towards the final status for Kosovo. This status for us is and remains alone the full independency and sovereignty of the country. We have strongly shown that we will work along with consecration for creating a democratic, tolerant and well off state (country) and respected as from our citizens also from the whole world. During this time the international community has understood us properly and cooperated with us in constructive way. The Special Representative of the Secretary General of UN, Mr. Jessen-Petersen, has been a very good collaborator of mine and a big friend of Kosovo. Citizens (people) of Kosovo, nothing dares to stop our way now. Every one of us, whoever, has to be prepared to give a necessary sacrifice in the way that finally after some centuries sufferings and sacrifices, our people and our country should gain the deserved independency. I am called today to give another sacrifice for which I never believed it will happen. Now I am informed that the Hague Tribunal released a charge against me. Firstly I want to say in front of you that I am innocent for any crime for which I am being charged. I say this because beside all I am responsible before my people. All my actions in the war were in compliance with the ethic of war, with international rules and with the code of manhood. I said before that I have worked for building up a dignified and democratic society to be as a part of the modern world. This means also cooperating with the international justice no matter how unfair (injustice) it may be in this moment. I feel my self insulted with this process, I am deeply touched, I feel that I am being fired from my job in the time when I gave the maximum for my country, but I have to accept it for the sake of my country and for all of us. I am a man of Kosovo and willing to sacrifice my self for my country. So i accept this burden. In the same time I ask from you to accept this fact as well. I ask from all of you to accept something that is nearly impossible to be accepted, but do this as an honor to your country and nation. I ask from you to think of the major interest of the country. The international community made a big mistake when they established a tribunal which treats the fighters for freedom with those who destroyed whole nations and transformed a region into ruins. I wish to believe that this mistake is unpremeditated. I wish to believe that they didn’t want this to happen as well. I know that some of them will be shocked as much as I am and you are now. This prepared thing comes from generated lies of Belgrade and from bargains which some have done with the Government of serbia for extraditing the Serb criminals. This is a mistake done by some people that don’t know what happened in Kosovo and that they don’t want to know what will happen here in the future. However, I know that I am not responsible for what I am being accused and I know also that the court will find (prove) it the same way. In the days that will come, I will consult my colleges and with the international community for my role in the future. All that I have done in my life it was in the service for Kosovo. This is what I am doing now, through accepting something that from the aspect of the justice is unacceptable. Now I want to thank you all for continuous support that you gave to me in most difficult times. I want to thank Alliance for Future of Kosovo, I want to thank the colleges from the coalition for their work, I want to thank President Rugova and the Chairman of the Assembly Mr. Daci for their continuous support. Sincere thanks for Mr. Jessen-Petersen and to General de Kermabo for their sincere friendliness towards me. Today I resign from the post as the Prime Minister of Kosovo. From my fellow coalition colleges I’ve asked them to continue the inter-institutional cooperation in the way to strengthen the coalition of governance. Only in this way Kosovo can fulfill its aims in the shortest term. This is another interruption in our way for freedom, democracy and sovereignty, but I promise you that nothing and nobody can stop our way towards independence. Goodbye and Thank you
