Maldives recognizes Kosovo as an independent state

Maldives extends full diplomatic recognition to the Republic of Kosovo

19 February 2009 - The Maldives has today extended full diplomatic recognition to the Republic of Kosovo. The Maldives is the 55th state to recognise the Republic of Kosovo. Kosovo declared unilateral independence on 17th February 2008. The United States, the United Kingdom, France, Australia and Japan were among the first countries to grant diplomatic recognition to the newest state in the Balkans.
